Arch Bishop Dr. Bernard Moras to Inaugurate St. Anthony’s Church at Marathahalli

Bengaluru: St. Anthony’s church Munnekolala which will be inaugurated on 2nd of October by Arch Bishop His Grace Dr. Bernard Moras, it  is  one of the biggest churches built by the arch diocese of Bangalore in the recent times both in terms of space and capacity. This church was the subsidiary of St. Anne’s church H.A.L. colony. Due to the expanding migrant and catholic population in and around the munnekolala and surrounding areas, mainly due  to the employment opportunities created by the IT and BT sectors, the new church was built in the area.

The property of this church was bought by Fr. K.C. Abraham in 1958-59. Till recently there was only a small chapel which served few faithful on Tuesdays and Saturday Eucharist celebrations. With every increasing people on these two allotted days, the people requested the me to include even Sunday masses to serve the faithful. In order to cater to the increasing people attending the Sunday mass at St.Anthony’s chapel Munnekolala, In 2010  I gave my consent to build the new church. A committee was formed to in order to coordinate and raise funds to build the church. Despite various struggles and hurdles in obtaining the permission to erect the Church, the task has been finally completed and is awaiting the grand inauguration on this Sunday 2nd October.

The new church is promising to be a central place of worship to not only the old settlers of munnekolala and nearby areas but also to the newly emerging  brand of IT and BT catholic mainly youth and newly married couples and migrants. St. Anthony  is a patron saint of padua in Italy and is a popular saint even among Indians. He is believed to be a miracle worker and people flock to this saint to pray for restoration of stolen items, deliverance from evil spirits and protection from unwanted fears  etc and to seek his intercession for curing of various sickness too. people of this area and church want this to become soon a shrine and invite thousands of devotees to come and benefit spiritually, materially, physically and psychologically.  If Saint Anthony willing hopefully we will have a new school also to cater to the people of this area. As of now we invite all the faithful and devotees of St. Anthony to come and witness the grand inauguration of the new church at munnekolala said Dr. Bernard Moras.
